Allow me to start out by saying that In my opinion that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I’ve been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from going through a program. My family was unaware of the Self-Conscious or Self-Obsessed available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the best choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Choosing the cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, after the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like a lot of addicts I started out smoking pot and progressed after that until I was doing my drug of preference daily at the fee for everything and everyone around me. I lost valuable time with my oldest daughter and many years of a meaningful relationship with our family. Throughout your addiction you don’t genuinely have friends, you might have your partying buddies so when an emergency pops up in your own life they may be no where to be found. Real friends walk together with you through everything. My addiction included alcohol along with drugs and that i drank almost everyday. From the moment I made the decision to stop the addiction cycle in my life, it became one step at any given time plus it was hard.
When I began emerging from my addictive lifestyle the things i found in its wake was lots of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships and no real idea the things i would do along with the rest of my life. I truly began a step at any given time and one day at the same time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and through that grieving process happens when I chose to permit God into help me to. It took several years but healing came, direction for my life came and my marriage flourished. I completed Senior High School, graduated from College and have started my very own business, which now includes a business that enables me to work from your home by way of a blogging platform.
Addiction Recovery Is Possible. After the cause for any addiction is identified and worked through after that your main reason for your addiction has stopped being a factor. For most who remain addicts in their lives this is due to they may have not identified their real cause, usually are not ready to get through their issues and enable healing to take place. Many want to remain a victim of their circumstance, not realizing exactly what the future would hold on their behalf when they would rid yourself of their victim mentality. Constructing a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is actually through that relationship that true healing happened.
My need for drugs and alcohol is totally gone. Through creating a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and i also discovered a sense of purpose for my life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to become a better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has developed into a business owner). My road to recovery might have taken a much different route if we had known concerning the programs around to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not just in the addicts but to there families as well.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a program for addiction recovery could have been a fantastic help to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools that can be used throughout your life for several situations that you will face. After many years of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge that is a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First as being a Development Director and then being a Program Director. While this is a great program there were some additional steps which i desired to offer those seeking help, so my husband and that i opened our very own recovery program and for a few years we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived around for approximately a year so we dealt with them step-by-step, it was probably the most rewarding experience We have ever endured inside my life.
We closed this program because we knew it was time to maneuver in a different direction with our lives, but we are always contacting those searching for help themselves or a member of family trying to find help for one which they love. I am getting ready to start performing some volunteer make use of a program in our area. Working to help addicts overcome their addiction is extremely rewarding work which is something which I will be a part of throughout my well being in one method or another.
